Cold galvanizing for solar PV parks

For EPC contractors and PV structure installers. Solar park structures arrive hot-dip galvanized, but on site they are cut, drilled, welded and knocked during transport and installation. At each of those points the steel is left without zinc, and that is where corrosion starts. GALVANOL repairs these areas during installation, without dismantling parts or sending them back for galvanizing.

Where it is used in a solar plant

  • Cuts and ends of profiles, purlins and driven piles.
  • Holes and bolted joints made on site.
  • Welds and burnt areas.
  • Scratches and impacts from transport, unloading and pile driving.
  • Maintenance of corroded structures in operating plants.

Why GALVANOL

  • ≥96 % zinc in the dry film (99 % pure zinc, ISO 3549): cathodic protection, like hot-dip galvanizing.
  • Suitable for repairing hot-dip galvanizing according to ISO 1461 and ASTM A780.
  • ISO 12944-6 tests in an ENAC-accredited laboratory.
  • Single-component and ready to use: brush, roller, spray gun or aerosol.
  • Tin and bucket can be applied from -30 °C to +60 °C with humidity up to 90 %: works on site in winter and summer.
  • Touch dry in about 20 minutes at +20 °C.
  • Made in Spain by Galvanol Iberia S.L., with direct technical support from the manufacturer.

Recommended thickness by environment (ISO 12944)

CorrosivityMinimum dry film thickness
Up to C3 high≥60 µm
C4 high≥80 µm
C4 very high / C5 high≥121 µm
C5 very high (over 25 years)≥130 µm

Coverage: 250 g/m² per coat (40 µm). With 2 coats, 1 kg covers about 2 m². Work out the quantity for your project with the GALVANOL calculator.
